Industrial seals need more than a final visual check. Critical dimensions, material identification, appearance limits, test method and packaging requirements should be agreed before production begins.

/ PROJECT-SPECIFIC CONTROL

Inspect what can change fit, compression and performance.

A generic inspection checklist cannot identify every risk in a custom seal. One project may depend on cross-section and flash; another may depend on hole position, bonded interface, diaphragm thickness or cosmetic surface limits.

Our quality planning begins during drawing review. The customer identifies critical-to-function features and requested documents; manufacturing and inspection controls are then aligned with the approved drawing and sample.

Requirement Review

Drawing revision, material, hardness, color, tolerances, appearance criteria, test method, sample quantity and documentation are clarified before tooling or production.

Incoming Material Control

Material identification and project information are checked before molding. Customer-requested material documents should be specified during quotation.

First Article Inspection

Initial samples are reviewed for critical dimensions, appearance, fit and project-specific requirements before the part is released for production.

In-Process Monitoring

Molding conditions, visual quality and selected dimensions are monitored during the production run to maintain consistency.

Final Verification

Finished parts are checked against the agreed inspection plan, labeling, lot information and packaging requirements before shipment.

Define the report before the purchase order.

Inspection and test scope affect tooling, sampling, cycle time and quotation. List required reports and acceptance criteria in the RFQ rather than adding them after samples are complete.

Dimensional Inspection

Overall dimensions, cross-section, thickness, hole size, position, concentricity and other drawing-defined characteristics.

Visual & Workmanship Criteria

Flash, short fill, contamination, surface marks, discoloration, deformation, gate vestige and parting-line limits.

Material & Hardness

Material identification, compound information, color and hardness requirements according to the approved project specification.

Functional Checks

Fit, assembly, compression, leak-related or movement checks when the method, fixture and acceptance criteria are defined by the project.

DRAWING CONTROL

One approved revision should control quotation, tooling and inspection.

Uncontrolled drawing changes create avoidable disputes. Send the latest revision and identify every characteristic that affects the seal or assembly.

Identify features that affect compression, fit, flow, movement or installation.

02Use measurable criteria

Replace “perfect surface” or “no flash” with agreed limits and inspection methods.

03Define sampling

State whether inspection is first article, per lot, sampling-based or 100% for selected items.

04Control revisions

Use a unique drawing number, revision and approval record before production.

05Confirm packaging

Prevent compression, contamination, mixing and deformation during storage and shipping.

Set expectations before samples.

Can you provide a dimensional inspection report?

Yes, when the required dimensions, method, sample quantity and report format are confirmed during quotation. Mark critical dimensions on the RFQ drawing.

Can you perform leak or compression testing?

Project-specific testing may be evaluated when the fixture, method, conditions and pass/fail criteria are clearly defined. Assembly-level sealing responsibility should also be agreed.

How should visual defects be specified?

Use measurable or reference-based limits for flash, marks, color, deformation and gate vestige. An approved sample or defect standard is more useful than subjective terms.

Are material documents automatically included?

Document scope varies by material and project. List the required certificate, lot information or traceability record in the RFQ so availability and cost can be confirmed.
